| tail boom shaking up/down | Tip: A good lubricant to use on the spindle shaft is car tune-up grease. You can get it at places like O'Reilys or Autozone. Just look for dielectric grease (100% silicone). I tried silicon spray but it won't stay. In a floating axle design, if the rubber dampners don't allow the shaft to move freely then you could end up with the spindle off-center and not able to recenter itself due to too the dampeners gripping it too much. This will cause the tail boom to shake up/down. |
| Auto hub locking up | Some people have reported good results by cleaning the auto hub with some automatic transmission fluid or lighter fluid (or kerosine), then putting Tri-Flow or Parmatex Silicon Tune-up grease. |
| Broken A/O links | ![]() ![]() I received the FREE RAPTOR 60 PARTS UPGRADE<<<update, this link does not work anymore and I could not find the addendum, this was for the R60v1 from many years ago))) from Ace This includes improved Elevator Arm Links, Washout Links, and Flybar Control Rods plus a body vibration dampening system. The body vibation dampening system is a rod that slides into the front of the radio tray. You can see it in the photo on the right. The rubber caps press against the inside of the canopy to keep it from shaking side to side. It comes with two r/c car body pins to hold the rod in, but I did not drill out the hole as large as they instruct to because I wanted it to be tight enough to hold itself without the use of the body pins. Homemade fix a friend did: ![]() As you can see he cut off the top of the arm, drilled a hole and installed a rod with a link on it. |
| canopy clip | I do backwards tricks but have not had a problem with the canopy trying to come off. However some have reported a problem with this and fixed it by placing a thumb screw through the latch into the skids to secure the canopy. |
| wobble | The head speed needs to be at least 1600. I think this is mostly caused by the dampeners. Use a good silicon grease that won't attack the rubber dampeners. One of the guys at the field uses Parmatex Tune-up grease with very good results. I will try this out as soon as I get some. |
| fuel foaming | Expanding the fuel tank grommet holes fixed my fuel foaming problem :) |
